pov: Itálica

ENGLISH

Yesterday was a program trip to Itálica, a town 30 minutes outside of Sevilla with ancient Roman ruins. We took a bus and got to explore the expansive sight for a couple hours, taking pictures and marveling at the structures, statues, and architecture.

It's humbling to go to places like these because it reminds you that your life is a drop in the bucket in the life of our planet Earth. The Romans were centuries before us, and yet they had daily lives similar to ours; they had ovens, wells, houses, games, etc. They created advanced sewer systems and political systems. They were an infamous, yet small part of our history. There has been so many people before us, and there will be so many people after us.

Sometimes this realization is nice because you realize that your daily worries aren't important to your big picture. It can help us remember which things in our lives are most important to us - what was important to people like Romans and how does that relate to what we value today?

Speaking of daily worries, I have my first round of exams this coming week. Tomorrow I am hoping to get the rest of my studying done. It's been really nice to work inside or outside - we found an art documents building with nice tables to work at, and the river is perfect for studying on a blanket.

Enjoy the pictures from Itálica below! I should have a few more soon. Hugs to all!

My friends are the cutest, aren't they!?
